A word from the chair……

“Every human being deserves to die with dignity, comfort and they deserve to feel peaceful in the location of their choice, including respect for language, religion and customs.” This is a quote from a Public Forum in North Vancouver.

Death and dying once taboo subjects are becoming increasingly relevant for our families, our community and ourselves.  Hospice in our community as elsewhere is a concept of care that enables the terminally ill to achieve the best quality of life during the final days, weeks or months before death.

Our volunteers and staff provide care in a team oriented approach that merges medical care, emotional and spiritual support tailored to the clients and their family’s wishes.

I believe that our hospice affirms life while recognizing that dying is a natural process.  Our hospice family also affirms the dignity and worth of every individual and gives reverence for life in all stages.

We could not do the work of Hospice North Hastings without our fantastic staff and our dedicated volunteers.  It is through there creativity and resourcefulness that Hospice North Hastings continues to serve our community at such a high degree of effectiveness.

Without our “people”, we could not function and I applaud all of them for their continued commitment to the physical, emotional and spiritual well being of clients and their families in our Hospice family.
