About Us

Mission Statement

“Hospice North Hastings is a non-profit community-based organization. It is committed to providing support for terminally ill persons or those with life-threatening illnesses and their families. This service is provided by specially trained volunteers, Nurses & Personal Support Workers, working in conjunction with professional and family caregivers.”

History

North Hastings Palliative Support (original name) was founded by two nurses in the basement of the old Bancroft Red Cross Outpost Hospital in 1996. Our name subsequently changed to Hospice North Hastings and began with the Home Visiting Program,  later adding a Medical Equipment Loan Cupboard, a Lending Library and a Residential Hospice. From humble beginnings above Pizza Delight in the old Canadian Tire store we grew and expanded into our wonderful Hospice House located at 27 Bridge St. East in Bancroft.
